Audrey hepburn halloween costume?

I thought that it would be interesting to dress up like Audrey Hepburn this year for Halloween but I cant really find an all in one costume kit for her. I dont have a lot of cash to fork over for this so I was wondering how to make it myself. Of course the first thing you think of is Breakfast at Tiffany's, so I want to do the hair like that, the makeup and accessories. Not to mention the dress. Any Ideas how on a low budget?

Find a friend who's good at hair to help you with the look -- or try to find a 60s moddish wig and modify it to make it work.

She wore mostly a simple A-line shift dress, if I'm recalling correctly, always black, with '60s accessories. For the party sequence, I think it was a classic black column dress which would cost more, but would be a wardrobe investment. If you're handy with a sewing machine, you could probably make your own shift-style dress.

Hit up local antique stores, flea markets, resell shops and Goodwill stores to try and shake down some "authentic" accessories, or check the summer clearance jewelry in your local mall (JCPenney has been running some good ones). Maybe you can score some cheap, faux pearls -- a really long strand that you can loop around a few times. Local wedding shops may be having sales on their wedding jewelry, so check those out for the gi-normous sparkly earrings (and also the pearls).

Don't forget the long black gloves, the hair jewelry (try using big brooches instead of actual barettes -- just remove the pin part and attach a bobby pin with hot glue. Don't try that on actual antiques though) and the mod cigarette holder, and I think you'll about have it.

One other thing: Use eyebrow pencil to pencil in those huuuuge sixties eyebrows and get proficient with your liquid liner. Go with nude or nearly nude lipstick too. The makeup will make a big difference.

She had two classic looks she's pretty famous for. The little black dress is the breakfast a t Tiffany's look. Get a simple, knee-length, sleeve less black dress. If it has a boat-neck that would be great but no one will really notice. Put you hair up in a french twist and get some funky but classy jewelry. She always wore either flats or very low kitten heels.

Her other look was short capris with ballet flats and a twin set.

She always had simple natural makeup.
