What should I wear to my 8th grade graduation?

I am graduating 8th grade soon, and I don't know what to wear. I have black hair and brown eyes. I don't want to be showy or too old-fashioned. I want a chick but simple dress. If you could help, that would be great. I need help choosing a color, a type of dress, and matching accessories. I need a list of stores I could find appropriate dresses and some pictures, if possible. I need advice on accessories and a hairstyle. This promotion isn't that formal, and I'm not wearing a robe. I also need help deciding what to wear to my award ceremony. I want it to be kinda formalish, but also trendy. I'd prefer things under $50, please.

You want to make sure you choose a dress that is you feel good in but is not TOO trendy, either. Simple patterns and silhouettes are factors as well because the photograph the best. Simple hairstyles are also best... you don't want to look like you are playing dress up rather than a young lady! If you can afford it, go to a hair salon to have them style your hair.
