What can i use as accesories to an 80's diner girl costume?

I found a vintage dress that looks like it could be a waitress outfit. I only have the dress though and I was wondering what I should wear as shoes. would white converses be okay? how should the hair/makeup be done? What other props/accessories do you suggest

Cute idea! You need a pad to take order on, a pencil to stick behind your ear, an apron of some sort, you know, for the straws for the sodas! Hair would be up, or pulled back with cute clips, they were more careful back then about hair in your food, and a hair net if your dare!

i would wear the converse shoes, and a big chunky metalic belt. black leggings, side pony tail or bery huge curly hair, large bright colored hoop earings you can get them at clairs, dark nail polish, layered eyeshadow in bright colors, and bright lipstick, sweat bands on your wrists and a head band.
